In territorial terms, Greece is widely a rural country: 66.0% of the territory is classed as predominantly rural regions and 28.3% as intermediate regions. Rural depopulation has been one of the most important issue of the latest period for Greece. In about 10 years, the share of people living in rural areas has decreased
significantly.
